Sometimes life reaches out to
take from among us those whose spirit lives after
them. Such is the case with Geoff Peggs. A rich and
commendable life! While he pursued a path in
journalism, aviation was his probable vocation, as
the open blue sky was one of his great passions.
His career in journalism career was distinguished.
Geoff was the Design Editor for the KSU yearbook. He
also was editor for the Collegian newspaper, and,
had won the Associated Collegiate Press Design award
for 2000. But, it was Geoff’s passion for the sky
that was most intense. He had over 250 jumps under
his belt. Skydiving was, for Geoff, one of life’s
greatest joys, and most intense pleasures.
On June 15,
2001, he met his death in a skydiving accident. As a
way of paying tribute to a young man, who loved
life, and the out of doors, The Wichita Chapter of
Sierra Club and the Sunflower Land Trust combined
efforts to create the "Geoffrey Jon Peggs Memorial
Trail"’ This active trail system will allow others
to enjoy the things Geoff treasured in life and
provide a fitting new beginning for a life that had
deep meaning to all who knew him.
